The people of Edo South Senatorial District have started the process to remove their senator, Neda Imasuen, accusing him of corruption, abuse of office, and failing to represent them well, as reported by PUNCH.

On Friday, the Human Rights Community and some constituents said they no longer trust the Labour Party senator.

They also called for his prosecution over a past legal issue.

They said he was disbarred by the New York State Supreme Court in 2010.

The group believes the case needs international attention, they want INTERPOL to help in the investigation.

At a press conference in Benin, leaders from five out of the seven local government areas in the district spoke, stating that the people deserve a leader who is honest and responsible.

They accused Imasuen of not doing any projects in his district, they also said he has been distant from the people.

The group sent a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Senate, and anti-corruption agencies, they gave them 14 days to act on the matter.

However, Senator Imasuen denied the allegations, he said some people were being paid to tarnish his name and claimed they had been invited to Kogi State and were working for others.
