The spokesperson of the Opposition Coalition, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has reacted after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers state.
His statement was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Tuesday. According to Channels TV, the President declared a state of emergency and also suspended Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and members of the Rivers state assembly.
However, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has now reacted after the report surfaced online. In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he condemned the decision of the President to suspend governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.
Ikenga Ugochinyere stated that after the Supreme Court judgement, governor Fubara made attempts to re-present the budget to the lawmakers but all efforts proved abortive.
Here is what Ikenga Ugochinyere wrote on his official X handle;
“We strongly condemn the recent suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the Rivers State House of Assembly by President Bola Tinubu. This action is a blatant violation of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
