The leader of the Simplicity Movement in Rivers State, Sobomabo Jackrich, has said that Governor Siminalayi Fubara will fully follow the Supreme Court’s decision only after getting the official Certified True Copies (CTC) of the judgment.
Speaking on Channels TV, Jackrich explained the governor’s position: “If the Supreme Court has recognized Martins Amaewhule’s assembly, that is not an issue. The governor has said he will follow the court’s ruling but only after seeing the CTC of the judgment.”
He also pointed out that the government has already started obeying the court’s decision: “Before this, the governor instructed the former local government chairmen to hand over to the Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs). This shows that he is already acting in line with the Supreme Court’s directive.”
Jackrich admitted that the governor has concerns about the judgment but is committed to the law: “Even though he may not be happy with the ruling, he is a law-abiding citizen and will not go against the rule of law.”
He urged Amaewhule’s group to be patient and cooperate: “The governor has asked Amaewhule’s faction to give him some time, but they are making too much of the situation. He is the leader of the state, and they should work together with him. There needs to be respect for the governor’s office.”
Meanwhile, tensions are rising as Speaker Martins Amaewhule and 26 lawmakers have given Governor Fubara 48 hours to re-present the state budget. The Rivers State Commissioner of Information has criticized this demand, saying it sounds more like a military order than a normal request to the executive.

Hear him speak: “He has appealed to the Amaewhule’s faction to give him some time, but you know the Amaewhule’s faction are over-blowing the whole thing. He is the governor of the state, and he is their boss; we have to work together. There has to be a synergy there. There should be respect for the office of the governor.
