Senate President Godswill Akpabio has spoken about his late mother’s strength and determination in raising him despite facing hardships. He disclosed that after his father passed away, his mother faced immense pressure to remarry. However, she refused to give in, even when the situation was difficult.
Speaking in a video shared by Viable Television, Akpabio said that the people around his mother insisted she choose a husband from among his uncles. However, she refused to remarry. He stated that his mother told them she had chosen to ‘marry her son’ (Akpabio) who was just six months old at the time.”
In Akpabio’s words: “So I am here today with my colleagues because one woman refused to surrender even when my father succumbed to the palms of death, she stood tall against the wings of misfortune. They told her to choose a husband amongst my uncles and she said she had a son who was six months old and she had chosen to marry that son. So she married me when I was 6 months old and refused to marry any other person”
