Former Governor of Enugu State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okwesilieze Nwodo, has stated that the number of individuals causing crisis within the party is relatively small.

According to a report by Vanguard, Nwodo, during an interview, expressed confidence that a majority within the PDP are committed to resolving internal conflicts affecting the party.

He noted that despite being few, those responsible for the crisis are influential due to the backing and encouragement they receive from the Federal Government.

“I think there are more people in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who want to resolve the crisis in the PDP,” he said. “Those who are causing the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), you can count them with your fingers, they are not many but they are formidable because they are supported and encouraged by the Federal Government,” he added.

Nwodo further claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) recognizes its inability to improve Nigeria’s fortunes or present a strong campaign platform for future elections.

He said that as a result of that, the All Progressives Congress is deploying various strategies, one of which is to weaken the opposition by ensuring there is no formidable party or candidate to challenge them in elections.

“The APC knows that there is nothing they can do that would change the fortunes of Nigeria and have something they can use to campaign to win elections,” he said, adding that, “One of their strategies is to make sure there is no strong party with strong candidate to face them in the election.”
