Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Wale Sanusi, has shared his disappointment over the meager payment he received after spending three days on a movie set in Oyo State.

Speaking in an interview on FeelRightNews TV’s YouTube channel, Sanusi recounted his painful experience, revealing that he was paid only N10,000 for his role in the production.

According to the actor, he accepted the job because it was presented to him as a significant project. Despite initially having reservations, he traveled from Lagos to Oyo State, expecting a fair reward for his efforts. However, what he encountered at the location left him disheartened.

Sanusi explained that accommodation arrangements on set further deepened his frustration. While other actors playing similar roles were given separate lodging, he was placed in the same hotel as the crew members. This made him feel undervalued and question his status in the industry.

After the project wrapped up, Sanusi returned to Lagos, only to face another shock. Upon checking his bank account, he discovered that his payment for three days of work was merely N10,000. The actor admitted that the moment he saw the credit alert, he was overwhelmed with emotion.

In his words; “Some years ago, I went to work for a lady in Oyo State. This lady was much younger than me, and I believe she was still in primary school when I started my acting career. However, due to the way the job was presented to me as a big project, I couldn’t reject it, so I traveled to Oyo State. Normally, the hotel where the crew members stayed was different from where the main actors stayed. Those of us who were meant to play the roles of village chiefs were lodged in a separate hotel, while I was lodged in the same hotel as the crew members. This made me very angry, and I wondered when I would become someone prominent in this acting profession.”

“Even my fellow actors, who were meant to play the same role as me in the movie, were lodged in a separate hotel, while I was placed among the crew members. After we completed the job, which I had left Lagos and traveled to Oyo to spend three days, I checked my account and saw that I was paid only N10,000. I was pained. I cried when i saw the credit alert on my phone because i spent three days at the location,” he added.
