Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has shed light on the implications of a senator’s suspension, emphasizing the need for reason and diplomacy in resolving legislative disputes.
In a tweet shared on his official handle, Sani outlined the severe consequences that come with a senator’s suspension. He explained that once suspended, a senator’s salary and entitlements are blocked, their access to the chamber is revoked, and they are barred from participating in plenary and committee meetings
The words of the author, playwright and a human rights activist on the above subject read, “when a Senator is suspended, his salary and entitlements will be blocked, he will neither be allowed to enter into the chamber nor participate in the plenary and committee meetings; his office will be sealed and is not expected to be seen within the premises of the National Assembly until the suspension is lifted. That is why reason should prevail to solve issues amicably.
