Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Femi Falana has reacted after the senator representing Abia North at the National Assembly, Orji Uzo Kalu told President Tinubu to declare MKO Abiola as President.
Uzo Kalu’s statement is coming after former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida said Abiola won the June 12 presidential election.
According to Channels TV, the lawmaker told President Tinubu to declare MKO as President posthumously and also put his portrait among Nigeria’s past Presidents in Aso Rock.
He was quoted as saying that;
“Yes, Abiola won the election. And I will say President Tinubu should declare him a President posthumously. Since Abiola won, his picture should be placed among Nigeria’s past presidents. I commend former President Buhari for giving him a national honor, but I also appeal to President Tinubu to officially recognize him and place his image where it belongs”.
However, Femi Falana has now reacted to the statement that was made by Orji Uzo Kalu. In the report that surfaced online, he said Nigerians have recognized MKO Abiola as an elected President since 1993.
He was quoted as saying that;
“Since 1993, he has been recognized by the people of Nigeria as an elected president. These guys who try to set the hands of the clock back are just recognizing that now”.
