National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has dismissed the electoral prospects of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its leadership, while outlining the APC’s organizational efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Basiru made the remarks during an interview from 11:53 on Arise Television on Friday, April 3, 2026, where he reacted to ongoing political developments involving David Mark and the ADC.

He stated, “I don’t want to talk about David Mark. David Mark cannot even win in this ward. Talk is cheap. David Mark cannot win in his ward. Mark my ward, 2027 is around the corner.”

Basiru further downplayed the opposition’s chances against the ruling party. “Even if they group themselves into thousands, they cannot defeat the APC. Because we have our structure,” he said.

Highlighting the APC’s internal organization, he added, “As of today, the only political party that is complying with the law and organising itself very well is the APC. We were the first political party to submit our register as far back as February to the INEC. 12 million members registered, NIN verified, with their phone number to INEC.”

He also emphasized the party’s adherence to constitutional requirements. “We are the only political party that is publishing our financial dealings as required by the constitution,” Basiru stated.

According to him, the APC has maintained consistent engagement with its supporters. “So as far as we are concerned, we are also organising structure. Every week, every month, we organise political programmes to sensitise our people, mobilise our people, broaden our scope. That is the work of a political party,” he said.

Basiru contrasted this approach with what he described as the conduct of opposition parties. “The work of a political party is not to come and do sloganeering and, I mean, crying that somebody else is disturbing you,” he noted.

He concluded by referencing the APC’s experience in opposition, stating, “We have been in opposition. When we are in opposition, we don’t conduct ourselves the way we used to do.” Read_More…
