A chieftain of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will face strong opposition from the Labour Party in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

In an interview with Channels TV from 44:55, he noted that the party intends to field Peter Obi as its presidential candidate.

Arabambi emphasized that if Obi secures the party’s nomination, they will mount a formidable challenge, just as they did in the 2023 election.

Recall that while President Bola Tinubu secured victory in the 2023 presidential election, the Labour Party, with Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, garnered over 6 million votes.

Arabambi, however, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to contesting seriously in 2027, making it clear that Tinubu will not have an easy path to re-election.

He said, ” You said Obi is there, I said yes, provided they give him nomination. We are going to give them a good run for their money. Bola Tinubu is not just going to have it easy in 2027, we are coming back with Peter Obi to them, so that they will know we are very serious.”
