Ibrahim Modibo, a media consultant and public affairs analyst, has shared his thoughts on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Speaking in an interview on Arise TV News from 1:30, Modibo noted that Atiku appears to be taking a different approach to politics this time around.

According to Modibo, Atiku has been a serial presidential contender who has never given up on his ambition to lead Nigeria. He stated that after every election loss in the past, Atiku would often travel to Dubai to take a break.

However, things seem to have changed as the former vice president has remained in Nigeria, actively engaging in political meetings and consultations.

“Before this time, whenever Atiku loses elections, he would go to Dubai and have some rest. But this time around, he has been in Nigeria. He has not traveled anywhere. He has been meeting people, people of substance, to make sure that he is on the ground and also offer the much-needed opposition to the ruling class,” Modibo stated.

The public affairs analyst believes Atiku’s recent visit to Obasanjo is part of his political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections. He dismissed the idea that the visit was just a casual courtesy call, arguing that a two-hour meeting between two influential political figures must have been focused on serious discussions.

“This time around, just as usual, he has gone to meet the former president. I’m sure it was to discuss politics. It couldn’t have been a tea party or just a courtesy visit. For two hours, it must have been about strategizing for the 2027 elections,” he added.

Modibo suggested that Atiku has learned an important lesson from his past election losses. Instead of retreating abroad after defeat, he now appears committed to staying in Nigeria and maintaining a strong political presence.

He emphasized that Atiku has been meeting key political figures in a bid to remain relevant and strengthen his position as a leading opposition figure.
