Emmanuel Nyabam, a survivor of forced intimacy who has found solace and strength in connecting with other male survivors, has shared his story
Speaking in a video shared by NTA, Nyabam shared that while in university, a group of girls deceived him into entering their room where, at gunpoint, they forced him to sleep with them. He also revealed that at a young age, a family member molested him. He said he was unable to tell anyone about the incident after it happened and the daughter of his landlord subjected him to another molestation a few years later.
In Nyabam’s words: “I was molested by a family member at a very early age. Not knowing how to speak about it I kept quiet. Gratefully, I relocated to Jos with my dad and that kept the matter out of view but a few years later it happened again, this time with our landlord’s daughter. While I was in the university, a bunch of girls lured me into their room and at gunpoint did what they wanted to do with me. It is a closed system, boys and even men don’t talk”
