The House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution has received 31 proposals for the creation of new states across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The announcement was made during a plenary session on Thursday, where Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu read a letter outlining the criteria that must be met for any new state to be approved.

The announcement was also shared on different social media pages. Check out the screen capture of the post below;

Among the states being considered are:

North Central: Okun, Okura, and Confluence (Kogi); Benue Ala and Apa (Benue); FCT State.

North East: Amana (Adamawa); Katagum (Bauchi); Savannah (Borno); Muri (Taraba)
