Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has been cleared of medical forgery charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The ruling came from Justice Olubunmi Abike Fadipe at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, who acquitted Fani-Kayode following a no-case submission by his attorney, Morrison Quakers.

The verdict marks the end of an 18-year legal battle with the EFCC, during which Fani-Kayode faced multiple criminal cases. In an interview with Channels TV, he expressed profound relief at the outcome. “I feel overjoyous, and I feel deeply humbled. After so many years, this case started in 2021, so after all those years, we finally received justice,” Fani-Kayode told Channels TV. “I thank God for the judiciary, for my lawyers, and I thank God for my family and my children.”

He further detailed his recent legal victories, stating: “Apart from this particular matter, on January 15, I was discharged by the Justice of the Federal Court in Abuja for another court case, which I asked for 8 years, since 2016. And I was acquitted of another criminal case in January as well.”

The former minister described the toll these legal challenges had taken on his life: “Four criminal cases by the EFCC in the space of the last 18 years have been quite haunting for me and my family. It affected my family, my career, my business, and everything. So, today, being the fourth and final one that is gone, by the grace of God, I can now live my life and face my family, take care of my children properly.”
