The leader of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nwisabari Bani, has called on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend and expel Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking during a press briefing, Bani accused Fubara of trying to divide the PDP and create instability in Rivers State.
In the video that was shared by Channels Television, Bani also condemned the actions of Oko Jumbo, who claims to be the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. He insisted that Jumbo had no legal right to hold that position and urged law enforcement agencies to arrest and prosecute him. According to Bani, these actions are part of a larger plan by Governor Fubara to cause division and disrupt governance.
The youth leader warned that if the PDP leadership does not take action against Fubara, young people in Rivers State may withdraw their support for the party in future elections. He emphasized that the NYCN stands for unity, peace, and the rule of law, and they will not allow the governor to use taxpayers’ money to create problems.
Bani further criticized the lack of proper financial procedures in the state, questioning how only a few people can spend public funds without an approved budget. He urged the Rivers State Government to respect the law and warned that the youth would not tolerate any form of impunity.
In the coming days, Bani said the youth council would meet with relevant authorities to take strong actions to protect democracy in Rivers State. He assured that the youth would remain peaceful but firm in their demand for justice and accountability.
