During an interview with Silverbird TV, Jake Epelle shared his thoughts on the recent meeting between President Bola Tinubu, Nyesom Wike, Siminalayi Fubara, and other leaders from Rivers State. The meeting, held at the State House, focused on the Ogoni cleanup, but many wondered if the ongoing conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, was discussed.

Epelle explained that the State House didn’t reveal if the crisis was addressed, especially since some parts of the meeting were held behind closed doors. “There’s a possibility it was discussed, but no one has shared the outcome of that segment,” he said.

He noted that if the president didn’t tackle the issue, it would be a missed opportunity. “The crisis between Wike and Fubara shouldn’t be treated as the elephant in the room. It’s time to address the root cause and find a lasting solution,” he emphasized.

Epelle also pointed out signs of tension during the meeting. Referring to a photo of the president standing between Wike and Fubara, he described Wike’s smile as “plastic” and noted the lack of a handshake or embrace between the two leaders. He observed that “the moment the photo session ended, Fubara walked away.”

According to Epelle, this shows how deep the conflict runs. “The air between them is so tense, it’s hard to cut through. I don’t think anything was achieved in resolving their issues,” he concluded
