U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has sharply criticized the ongoing war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of pushing Washington into a costly and devastating conflict.
In a post shared on his verified social media account, Sanders argued that Netanyahu played a central role in influencing U.S. President Donald Trump to enter the war, which he described as both “horrific” and widely unpopular.
“Netanyahu led Trump into this horrific and unpopular war. Now he doesn’t know how to get out,” Sanders wrote.
The senator also highlighted what he described as the heavy human and financial cost of the conflict so far, presenting figures that illustrate the scale of destruction and suffering across the region.
According to Sanders, more than 1,200 Iranian civilians have been killed since the fighting began. He also said that at least 13 U.S. military personnel have lost their lives during the campaign.
Beyond the casualties, Sanders pointed to the humanitarian consequences inside Iran, stating that approximately 3.2 million people have been displaced by the conflict, while more than 10,000 others have been injured.
The violence has also spilled into neighboring countries. Sanders noted that at least 773 people have been killed in Lebanon amid the broader escalation linked to the war.
