The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of disregarding the agreement reached during a peace meeting initiated by President Bola Tinubu several months ago.

While speaking during a Media Chat on Sunday as shown in a video made available by News Central TV from 1:11:39 , Wike noted that despite the fact that the impeachment notice against Fubara was withdrawn following the president’s intervention, Fubara proceeded to take legal action, violating the terms of the agreement.

Wike criticized Fubara and his allies for failing to adhere to the directives issued during the meeting. He noted that if Fubara and his supporters were unable to fulfill all the directives, they should have reported back to the president rather than acting unilaterally.

Recall that Nyesom Wike has been at loggerheads with Siminalayi Fubara for several months now. Their conflict has resulted in the emergence of factional Speakers and parallel Assemblies in Rivers State, with one faction aligned with Wike and the other with Fubara.

Wike questioned the commitment of Siminalayi Fubara to the efforts aimed at resolving the conflict, emphasizing that despite the president’s clear instructions during the peace talks, key aspects of the agreement remain unimplemented.

He said, “The president of our nation, in his own wisdom, said, ‘You come, you come, sit down. This is the problem; I want this problem to be resolved. You go, withdraw the impeachment notice. You go, do this. You go, do that.’ The parties went home, and the assembly withdrew the impeachment notice.

“You did one, you did two, and then you sent people to go to court. Have you gone back to Mr. President? This assignment you gave— we’ve done one, we’ve done two, but we were not able to do three and four. Please, Mr. President, can you call us back to see whether we can find a solution to three and four, since one and two have been executed? Nothing. The next thing you see is, ‘Somebody did this, somebody did that.’”
