Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organization recently expressed their readiness to work with Ohaneze Ndigbo, a sociocultural group responsible for protecting the interests of the people of the southeast. In their statements which drew widespread attention from the general public, they pointed out that their desire to work with the group was shown during the handshake in Enugu state.

The emergence of Senator John Azuta-Mbata as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, a sociocultural group tasked with protecting the interests of the people of the people particularly referred to as Ndigbo stirred mixed reactions from different quarters. While many expressed their dissatisfaction, others expressed their readiness to work with him in particular and the Ohaneze Ndigbo in general.

In light the this, Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organization in a recent statement which was made available to the general public by news outlet, VANGUARD, made it known that the group was ready to work with Ohaneze Ndigbo.

According to the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Prince Justice Faloye their eagerness to work with the group was shown during a handshake in Enugu state, after the emergence of Senator Azuta-Mbata as Ohaneze Ndigbo’s president general.

‘In his words’

“Ours is not a relationship based only on current political expediencies, but as shown during the handshake across Niger in Enugu”, Afenifere said.

“The leader prayed for a successful tenure for the new Exco as he assured the body of Afenifere’s readiness to work with ethnic nationalities, including Ohanaeze, for the betterment of our dear country, Nigeria.” He said.
