The All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker committee chairman in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has offered a stark assessment of the state’s political landscape during a recent appearance on Arise TV From 2:58.
In his forthright analysis, Okocha expressed deep concerns about the state’s immediate future. “I do not see Rivers State coming out of this quagmire in 2025 by reason of prognosis. I’m not a prophet of doom. The reasons I say so are legion, but because of our time, I’ll try as much as possible to isolate some of these issues and deal with them,” he declared.
The APC chairman highlighted the missed reconciliation opportunities during the festive period between the state’s political figures. “Now, the Yuletide season provided even enemies opportunities to pay visits to one another and resolve their issues. The Governor of River State and his immediate benefactor could not have been enemies, even if they were, it was time to say, ‘Okay, let’s exchange conviviality and goodwill,'” he stated.
Expressing disappointment at the lack of basic courtesies between the political leaders, Okocha remarked: “What would it have taken anybody? Your boss had his birthday on the 12th of December. Let me just take a piece, even if it’s a scroll news, to say congratulations on your birthday. It doesn’t take anything away from you, by my own understanding and assessment.”
