Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former Director-General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign and a significant figure within the Labour Party, has made strong statements regarding the party’s future.
In a report by THE GUARDIAN, he emphasized that the political landscape has changed significantly since the events in the South West region and asserted that such occurrences will not be repeated in 2027.
Okupe pointed out the urgency for the Labour Party to focus on building a robust political structure, suggesting that many members are seeking immediate political success.
He expressed concern that the party is not prepared to invest in the necessary infrastructure, which could result in members leaving the party if these issues are not addressed.
Doyin stated, “The situation has become different. What happened in the South West is not going to happen in 2027. I can assure you. It’s not going to happen. People want political success tomorrow, but LP is not ready to build. They are not ready to build and are not ready to invest in structures, so people will leave.”
