According to Daily Post Nigeria, Joe Igbokwe, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised politicians nursing presidential ambitions for 2027 to abandon their plans.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe emphatically declared that President Bola Tinubu would remain in office beyond 2027, leaving no room for a new leader.

“Those of you scheming and dreaming for 2027 should go and rest. There is no vacancy in Aso Rock until PBAT clears the huge and monumental Augean Stable that has accumulated for years now. Nigeria is being reworked to work again,” he wrote.

Igbokwe’s remarks come amidst reports that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party are exploring a possible alliance to challenge Tinubu’s administration in 2027.

The potential coalition has sparked debates about the political landscape in the coming years, with opposition parties strategizing to unseat the ruling APC.

Igbokwe’s statement underscores the APC’s confidence in Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing the president’s ongoing efforts to address Nigeria’s challenges.

Describing Tinubu’s work as monumental, he highlighted the government’s focus on rebuilding the nation and tackling longstanding issues.

The comment also reflects the APC’s determination to consolidate power and dissuade opposition candidates from attempting to disrupt its plans for continuity in governance.

As political activities heat up ahead of 2027, Igbokwe’s message signals the ruling party’s readiness to defend its leadership and policies against any opposition.
