Alhaji Ado Dansudu, a northern leader and National President of the Arewa United Forum, has expressed deep concern about the rising insecurity in Northern Nigeria, during an interview with DAILY SUN.

Dansudu’s worries center on the emergence of a new terrorist group called Lakurawa, which he believes will pose huge threat to peace in the region.

Dansudu highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the North, which already battles banditry and terrorist organizations and stated that the North has been able to endure despite these violent threats, noting the resilience of the northern people.

He pointed out that other regions in Nigeria would struggle to survive the level of violence seen in the North for even a year.

According to Dansudu, the emergence of Lakurawa adds to the growing instability in the region and stressed that this new group is not only a danger to Northern Nigeria but to the entire country.

“We believe that the security challenge in the North will be overcome very soon. Nigeria is very lucky that the problems of banditry and terrorist organisations are largely in the North. If what the North is experiencing in the hands of terrorists and bandits happens in any other region, I can tell you that the region will not survive it for a year. But because of the nature of the northern people the region is still going on despite being buffeted from right, left and centre. The emergence of this new group is an additional threat not only to the peace of the northern region, but also to the peace of the entire nation,” he said.
