Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has vowed that Tinubu and his ally, Onanuga, will face consequences for insulting former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The comments were made in response to remarks allegedly made by the duo about Obasanjo, which George deemed disrespectful and inappropriate. This exchange is the latest in a series of public confrontations involving political figures in Nigeria, where the stakes are high, and reputations are fiercely defended.
In a report by Daily Post, Bode George expressed his anger over the situation, stating that no one should be allowed to disrespect Obasanjo, particularly considering his contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and his status as a former leader. According to George, the remarks made by Bola Tinubu, the current President of Nigeria, and his ally, Onanuga, were not only insulting but also undermined the dignity of the office of the former president. George further warned that such behavior would not go unpunished, implying that legal or political repercussions could follow.
The altercation between the political figures stems from ongoing rivalries within Nigeria’s political landscape. Obasanjo, who has been a central figure in Nigerian politics for decades, is often involved in political disputes and power struggles. His relationship with current leaders, including President Tinubu, has been a topic of public interest, especially as both men have had differing political ideologies and approaches to governance over the years. George, a seasoned politician, has long been a vocal critic of those he believes are undermining the country’s democratic process.
He said, “That is his style because he did it to me before, he didn’t meet me in Ijebu Ode Grammar school. You can see how small he is when comparing himself to us, people give their opinion and you insult them.”
