In a video posted on Symfoni TV from 5:35, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Segun Showunmi revealed that Atiku Abubakar has not officially declared his intention to run for presidency in the future.
Showunmi shared that he has inquired about Abubakar’s plans on two occasions and intends to ask once more before making any final conclusions.
Regardless of Abubakar’s decision, Showunmi underscored that the primary focus should be on finding a leader who has the commitment, energy, and vision to drive Nigeria’s development.
Showunmi asserted that should the responsibility fall on him, he would confidently step forward and announce his candidacy for president, unafraid of any potential challenges.
In essence, Showunmi emphasized the importance of prioritizing the collective interest of Nigerians in the search for effective leadership.
According to Segun Showunmi, “Atiku has not even told me he’s running. I’ve asked him two times; I’ll ask him one more time. If he doesn’t give an answer, that’s it. But the point I’m making is that it’s not about him. Anyone who has the heart to develop Nigeria, anyone who has the stamina for democracy, anyone who can speak to the how will we get it done?, we will back him. And if the burden falls on me, then surely I will tell you, I’ll come and announce to you: I’m running for president, and let the heavens fall if they want to fall. So, I’m telling you with clarity that it’s not about anybody, it’s about all of us.”
