Former NHIS Executive Secretary Professor Usman Yusuf has alleged that the human rights of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai were violated in the manner in which he was arraigned before a court by the ICPC in Kaduna State.

Speaking in an interview from 18:33 with Daily Trust TV, Professor Yusuf said, “If you see the way they arraigned him in Kaduna, you will think they want to fight Bello Turji. As we speak, I still go to court, and they say I did this, and I said fine, give me my fair day in court,” he said.

The former NHIS boss was, however, careful to clarify that his support for El-Rufai was not rooted in political alignment, but in a principled stand against what he described as illegal detention.

He also defended El-Rufai’s right to speak to the media, describing freedom of expression as a fundamental constitutional right that no agency or government had the authority to take away. Read_More…
