Samuel Ogeh, a legal expert, has stated that the three suspended lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly cannot declare the seats of their colleagues vacant. In an interview with Channels Television From 16:57, Ogeh emphasized that Martin Amaewhule remains the Speaker and that the suspended lawmakers lack the legal authority to make such declarations.
Ogeh explained that the Rivers State House of Assembly is a creation of law and functions according to the law, which does not empower suspended members to take such actions. He stressed that the three persons under suspension cannot unilaterally declare seats vacant from the comfort of their offices or bedrooms.
In his words;
“Martin Amaewhule is and remains the Speaker. Three persons who are already under suspension cannot in the cozy of their offices or bedroom say that they’ve declared the seats of their colleagues vacant, the law doesn’t give them such powers. The Rivers State House of Assembly is a creation of Law and functions according to the Law”
