Member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Leke Abejide, has expressed his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election.
In an interview aired on the MIC ON podcast on Saturday, he stated clearly that the only coalition he would willingly support is one aimed at getting President Tinubu re-elected in 2027. In his view, there is currently no emerging or existing presidential aspirant who could surpass what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has achieved in the country so far.
He said:
“The coalition that I can support is the one that will be of Tinubu’s support. There is nobody you will bring now that would do better than him and again he has only one-term to go. Who are you going to bring to spend one term? They are only telling lies.”
Furthermore, he suggested that the two major opposition leaders vying for the presidency, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, should offer their support to Tinubu in 2027 in exchange for an agreement to have one of them assume power in 2031. He believes this would save them the stress of contesting against President Bola Tinubu and create a easier route for either of them to assume office by 2031.
His words: “This coalition can be reorganized, we can talk to Atiku and Peter Obi. These two people, we can have an agreement. Peter Obi is making promises, it is easy to talk. We can say because Tinubu has only one-term, let’s form this coalition to support him, then we will tell him in 2031 that one of you will come out and then we can join them. It will be easier for one of them to become President.
