Architect Uche Rochas, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has sparked political debate with a recent post on his official X handle.

Rochas revealed that he is now rethinking a possible alliance between Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation and 2023 presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I’m beginning to reconsider this ticket,” Rochas wrote. “I believe it has the potential to checkmate the entire South-South, regardless of the numbers we get from that region.”

According to him, such a pairing could drastically weaken the APC’s grip on the South-South, potentially leading to “complete voter suppression” for the ruling party in the area.

He added, “Let BAT and Obi contend with each other in the South-East and South-West,” referring to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Labour Party leader Peter Obi.

The post has since drawn attention, with many observers analysing its possible impact on the 2027 presidential race.
