Former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has explained why he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that for the stability of Nigeria, President Tinubu must complete his 8-year tenure, underlining that today’s politics is beyond the North, amid growing coalition to unseat Tinubu in 2027, during an interview with ARISE TV.
Dr. Okowa revealed that he discussed his move with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar before leaving the PDP and stated that Atiku was already planning to exit the party.
According to Dr. Okowa, the unity of Nigeria is more important than regional politics, believing the country needs stability, not constant political struggles.
He said all parties have people from every region, so power rotation can still happen later and stressed that President Tinubu should be allowed to complete what he started.
He said political peace will give room for development and growth and added that changing leadership too often causes setbacks.
Dr. Okowa urged other politicians to think of Nigeria first and called for support for President Tinubu to finish his full term.
“I discussed the coalition with Atiku Abubakar, who is on his way out of the PDP before we went for the APC. The politics of today is beyond the north and the south, for stability of Nigeria, Tinubu must complete 8-year tenure. In all political parties, you’d have people from all regions competing. It is best for President Tinubu to complete his 8-year tenure,” he said.
