In a recent video shared by SYMFONI TV, the North Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM) led by Professor K’tso Nghargbu, issued a strong statement demanding full political recognition for the North Central region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a press briefing, the group stressed that the North Central zone has been unfairly sidelined since Nigeria’s independence. While other geopolitical zones have produced either a president or vice president, the North Central has remained without such representation. According to the NCRM, this long history of political exclusion must come to an end.

Professor Nghargbu explained that the zone has made enormous sacrifices for Nigeria’s unity, especially during the civil war, and has also been central to the nation’s economic growth. He highlighted the role of major hydroelectric dams in the region, which provide electricity for the entire country, as well as the historic contributions of tin mining and agriculture.

The NCRM declared that no amount of secondary positions such as party chairmanships would satisfy their demand for the presidency. “We will no longer be political underdogs, backbenchers, escorts or spectators,” the group stated firmly.

The movement called on major political parties to recognize the North Central’s contributions and ensure the zone produces Nigeria’s next president in 2027.
