Arc Uche Rochas, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on Peter Obi to remove certain individuals from the Obidient movement. He made the appeal in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, 17 July 2025.
Rochas, reacting to recent events within the movement, said Obi must act to restore discipline and focus.
He wrote, “There will come a time when we must advise Peter Obi to excommunicate certain individuals from the Obidient movement. It’s the only way to restore sanity and discipline within the movement,” he wrote.
His comments come amid growing tension in the movement over Obi’s political future. Some members have urged the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate to opt out from the coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
They argue Obi should run solo instead of aligning with other parties, especially as speculation grows that Atiku Abubakar could clinch the PDP’s presidential ticket again.
Rochas insisted that removing divisive elements would strengthen the Obidient movement and prepare it for future challenges. He stressed the need for unity and discipline as the 2027 race draws closer.
