In an interview with TVC, Archbishop Professor Leonard Bature Kawas, President General of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, offered a candid and thought-provoking perspective on the recent wave of violence plaguing parts of the country. He asserted that these acts of bloodshed are not mere coincidences but calculated political maneuvers orchestrated by certain self-serving politicians. According to him, the ultimate aim of these elements is to tarnish the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and destabilize his administration in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Reaffirming his loyalty, Archbishop Kawas pledged unwavering support to President Tinubu on behalf of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria.
Archbishop Kawas expressed deep concern over the manipulation of national insecurity for political gain, characterizing the attacks as strategic provocations designed to stir public outrage. He emphasized that these orchestrated killings are a deliberate attempt by opposition forces to incite resentment among the populace and erode confidence in the Tinubu-led government.
According to him, “We believe that there are selfish politicians who are sponsoring these killings for their own selfish interest, and we believe that President Bola Tinubu is the only person among all those who are clamoring for 2027… which is even the reason why they are sponsoring these killings—because they want to discredit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his government. So, they are killing people in order to awaken anger in Nigerians against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reemergence in 2027.”
