Founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Prof. Udenta Udenta, has stated that if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to contest the 2027 presidential election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) should forget about securing votes from the Southeast and South-South regions.

Speaking in an interview with Arise News Television from 11:35, Udenta confidently maintained that Jonathan would dominate the vote share in these two zones, leaving the outcome of the election to be determined largely by voters in the North.

He said: “If you have President Jonathan for example and there is no Obi in the ticket, the entire Southeast and South-South is gone from the APC, no doubts about it. You can quote it today and you can do a town hall and bring me on board for that conversation.”

Udenta further argued that Jonathan’s appeal would not be limited to the South, stressing that he could also command significant support in the North.

According to him, many Northerners still hold Jonathan in high regard for conceding defeat to former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, as well as for what he described as Jonathan’s commendable record in office.

He added that Jonathan’s reputation as a statesman and his past leadership experience would likely earn him broad acceptance across the North, giving him a solid chance at building a strong national coalition.

His words: “The North will support former President Goodluck Jonathan for very good reasons. One, his liberal disposition, the fact that he conceded election easily and walked away. He grew himself into a powerful global brand and a powerful African Leader.
