Babatunde Gbadamosi, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Lagos East senatorial candidate, has categorically ruled out supporting Atiku Abubakar’s bid to lead Nigeria. In a post published by Babatunde Gbadamosi, on his official X account, Gbadamosi insisted that only Peter Obi or a leader with comparable qualities has the capacity to steer the country toward meaningful progress.
Forget about Atiku, he declared. “Only Peter Obi or someone in his mould can take Nigeria to where she needs to be.” He also lavished praise on Obi’s former running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, calling him an invaluable asset whose character and competence set him apart. Gbadamosi highlighted Datti’s intellectual strength, principled integrity, business expertise, and resolute courage as the kind of leadership attributes Nigeria urgently requires.
He further emphasized that the existing alliance between Obi, Datti, and ordinary Nigerians already forms a powerful political force. Rejecting any suggestion of an alternative coalition, Gbadamosi advised those seeking real change to align themselves with the momentum Obi and Datti have built. “Coalition or no coalition, it’s Obi-Datti or nothing—unless Datti decides to step aside,” he wrote, adding that the movement’s broad support makes it the most credible path for transforming Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
