The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, reiterated at the weekend during an inspection of some federal road projects in Enugu State that the South-East region remained firmly behind the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

According to THISDAYLIVE, he explained that several projects were ongoing in the zone and urged the people of the Southeast to wholeheartedly embrace the president. Umahi pointed out that there was every reason to appreciate President Tinubu, noting that 528 kilometers of road valued at about ₦1.5 trillion had been secured in a deal with China Habo, which he described as mutually beneficial with commendable quality.

The former governor of Ebonyi State maintained that the Southeast had gained much from the current administration, insisting that Tinubu’s challengers were merely “noisemakers.” He stressed that the president had remembered the region in a way past leaders had not, leaving no room for complaints.

Umahi emphasized that the people needed to act wisely and engage based on realities rather than sentiments. He added that, as a son of the region and Minister of Works, he was proud to be part of the administration’s achievements and grateful to God and the president.

His words: “We need to be wise. I have been telling our people to be wise. We cannot engage with sentiment, we have to engage base on realities and I think President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has remembered southeast very well. We have no reason to complain.”

He further asserted that President Tinubu was destined to complete the work he had started, dismissing the opposition as irrelevant. According to him, the Southeast had never been remembered to this extent, and for that reason, they had every cause to stand with the president.
