Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has disclosed the extent of a major Russian aerial assault that struck multiple regions of the country, triggering widespread emergency responses and renewed calls for urgent international military support.

In a statement released via his verified social media account, Zelensky confirmed that the overnight attack involved a large-scale barrage of ballistic and cruise missiles, alongside more than 300 attack drones, marking one of the most intense strikes in recent weeks.

According to the president, preliminary reports from regional authorities indicate that the assault affected Kyiv and its surrounding region, as well as Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, and several other areas across Ukraine.

Emergency repair crews, the State Emergency Service, and other critical response units were immediately deployed nationwide to manage the aftermath, conduct rescue operations, and begin restoration work.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine’s air defense forces succeeded in intercepting a significant number of incoming threats, crediting recent deliveries of air defense missiles for helping to blunt the impact of the attack.

He emphasized that these supplies arrived just a day before the strike, underscoring their timely and life-saving importance. However, he stressed that existing resources remain insufficient given the scale and frequency of Russian attacks.

Reiterating Ukraine’s longstanding appeal to its international partners, Zelensky called for sustained and accelerated delivery of air defense systems and ammunition.

He highlighted the critical need for missiles compatible with Patriot, NASAMS, and other advanced air defense platforms, arguing that such systems represent direct protection for civilians rather than abstract military assistance.

He added that securing these capabilities is now a central task for Ukraine’s diplomatic corps, warning that delays or failures in delivery carry severe humanitarian consequences.

The president also announced that Ukrainian authorities would convene a special energy coordination call to assess the damage to critical infrastructure and identify the resources required to restore electricity, heating, and water supplies.
