Political commentator and media strategist, Lere Olayinka, who currently serves as a senior aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted strongly to the recent demand made by former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN.
Malami had called for the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to step aside from his ongoing investigation, citing alleged bias and political targeting following his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
His reaction was shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, December 15, 2025, and has since gained traction across social media platforms.
Olayinka’s comment came after Malami, who is currently under investigation for 18 serious offences including alleged money laundering, abuse of office, and terrorism financing claimed that the EFCC chairman was acting out of personal vendetta. Malami insisted that the probe was politically motivated and unfair.
In his post, Olayinka expressed disbelief at Malami’s stance, implying that the former justice minister’s current complaints were inconsistent with his past conduct in office. He questioned whether this was the same Malami who held power from 2015 to 2023, suggesting a dramatic shift in narrative.
Olayinka said,
“This must be another Malami. This can’t be the same Malami of 2015 to 2023.” View, More,
