According to a report by Channels TV, on Monday December 8, 2025, Lawyer and activist Chetam Nwala has launched a sharp verbal attack against former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, dismissing his claim of exclusive ownership or deep historical ties to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwala comments come amid ongoing internal friction within the PDP, where Wike’s influence remains a contentious issue. The lawyer argued that Wike’s lack of involvement during the party’s formative years negates any claim of personal proprietorship.
“The PDP came into existence in 1998 and a lot of founding fathers of the PDP, some have died, some have left the PDP, some have also completely retired from politics generally,” Nwala began, contextualizing the party’s history.
He then targeted Wike directly, calling his claim to the party laughable, given his absence from the original list of trustees and founders at all levels of the party structure.
“So it is laughable for someone like Nyesom Wike who was never part of the founding trustees of the party both at the state level at the local government level and even at the national level to lay claims to PDP being his home and being his personal estate.”
Nwala concluded by issuing a firm rebuke, clarifying the foundational nature of the party as a collective, rather than an individual’s property. “PDP is not the personal estate of anybody last time I checked.” View, More,
