‎Legal practitioner and public commentator Dele Farotimi has issued warning about the state of governance and democracy in Nigeria.

‎“When your legislators are corrupt, you should be worried. If your executives are peopled by crooks, you should be afraid. When the judiciary stops being courts of law, the people should be alarmed,” Dele Farotimi wrote.

‎In his post, Farotimi expressed deep concern over what he described as the erosion of accountability across key arms of government.

‎He suggested that when lawmakers fail to act independently, citizens should begin to worry about the future of democracy.

‎According to him, a legislature that simply approves decisions without scrutiny weakens the foundation of representative governance.

‎He raised concerns about leadership within the executive arm.

‎Farotimi argued that when those entrusted with executive power lack integrity, fear and uncertainty naturally spread among the people.

‎He believes leadership failure at this level often leads to poor policy choices and abuse of public trust.

‎Farotimi warned that when courts no longer uphold justice and fairness, the entire society is at risk.

‎He stated that the judiciary is meant to be the last hope of the common citizen and should never lose its independence or credibility.
