Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, National Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Groups, has alleged that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may be establishing an unwanted record of political betrayal by protégés he elevated to power.
Speaking in an interview from 16:54 with News Central TV, Charanchi drew comparison between the Kwankwaso-Ganduje fallout and the current situation with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. “We saw what happened between Abdullahi Ganduje and Rabiu Kwankwaso, and now it is Abba and Kwankwaso. So generally, what this is telling you is that Nigerian politics is not meant for conscience and integrity,” he said.
The coalition coordinator argued that the pattern of godfather-godson conflicts reflects fundamental flaws in Nigerian political culture, where ideology and principle play minimal roles in party affiliation and loyalty.
Charanchi characterized the repeated betrayals as a wake-up call for political godfathers across Nigeria, signaling that traditional patronage relationships no longer guarantee loyalty or continuity. According to him, politicians who succeed their mentors prioritize power acquisition over ideological consistency or party principles. See More
