Hon. Enemi George, who serves as the spokesperson for the legislative body, clarified that the move was rooted in legal integrity and moral standards rather than the specific sum of money offered.
During an interaction with members of the press, Hon. George noted that the Assembly remains steadfast in its commitment to constitutional guidelines.
He Said, “We rejected the supposed Christmas gifts not because the money is small; I rejected it because I don’t want to go to prison.”
He further elaborated that state finances are the property of the citizens of Rivers State and should never be treated as personal assets by any elected official. The spokesperson maintained that the House has a fundamental responsibility to safeguard public wealth and demand fiscal transparency.
