Abubakar Shehu Jabo, a resident and Information Officer for Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has shared his experience following a U.S. airstrike that hit Jabo town recently
According to a report by Vanguard on Friday, December 26, 2025, Jabo said the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. and caused panic among residents. He said the missile fell from the sky with great speed and noise, and many people initially believed it was a plane crash.
Jabo said, “Because of the loud noise and the speed at which the burning object descended, many of us thought it was an air crash.” He explained that when some residents got closer to the site, they discovered it was not an aircraft but a missile
Also speaking on the incident, the traditional leader of Jabo, Sarkin Fawa Muhammadu Abubakar, said the airstrike was unexpected because the community has always been peaceful. He said, “We do not harbor terrorists or bandits in our communities. This place has been calm and peaceful for a very long time, which makes this incident even more disturbing.”
Abubakar reassured the public that both Jabo and the nearby community of Bargini have no links to criminal groups and called for clarity on why the area was targeted.
