In an interview with the Sun on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s military action in Nigeria, describing it as ineffective and pointless.
In his assessment of Trump’s intervention, which followed rhetoric about insecurity and alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria, Charanchi expressed disappointment with the outcome.
“Trump was making mouth, shouting of insecurity, Christian genocide, and at the end of the day, the bombs landed in a beans farm,” Charanchi stated. “It doesn’t make any sense.”
The CNG coordinator went further to characterize the military strike as a complete failure that brought no benefit to Nigerians.
“In fact, that is the most useless thing that happened to Nigerians in the last year,” he declared. “He didn’t achieve anything.”
Charanchi’s comments reflect skepticism among some northern Nigerian groups about the stated objectives and actual impact of Trump’s intervention, which the U.S. president framed as a response to violence against Christians but which critics suggest missed its intended targets. See_More…
