Public affairs analyst Dr. Majeed Dahiru has alleged that the entire country is suffering consequences of what he described as religious and social failures in Northern Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview with Channels TV from 4:37, Dr. Dahiru highlighted that the casualties of insecurity are majorly from the northern zones. “When the governor of Gombe said Nigerians from all walks of life, across religious divides, are dying in the battlefield to defend the Nigerian state—it is true. But the question is, why are they mostly dying in the theater of war, either in the northeast or northwest or part of north central? Why are they not dying in the southern part of the country as much as they are dying in the north?” he said.
He noted that Nigeria bears collective responsibility for northern regional problems. “The rest of Nigeria is bearing the brunt of what has gone wrong religiously, and socially with the north. So the question is: now they (the governors) gathered in the room. What have they come up with as decisions that are decisive enough? What have they come up with as decisions that are decisive enough to turn the tide around and save the north from itself and Nigeria along with it?” Dr. Dahiru stated.
He welcomed northern governors’ acknowledgment that the region faces an existential threat, describing this admission as the meeting’s most significant outcome.
He noted that since governors recognize the existential nature of the threat, they must develop comprehensive strategies to eliminate it rather than merely managing the challenge that affects both regional survival and national stability. View, More,
