Anambra State Governor Chukwuma C. Soludo has made a clear declaration on his role in engaging Igbo leaders over issues linked to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The governor spoke during a recent meeting with market stakeholders and traders across the state, In a video shared by Afia News from 2:54, Addressing concerns surrounding insecurity and economic disruptions, Governor Soludo explained that he personally coordinated a group of Igbo leaders to address regional challenges affecting peace and commerce.

According to him, the engagement was aimed at restoring stability and protecting the livelihoods of traders and business owners. Governor Soludo said, “I am the one who led Igbo leaders; about 13 of us. I never met Nnamdi Kanu in my life before.”

The statement was made to clarify speculations surrounding his involvement in discussions linked to the IPOB leader and to stress that his actions were driven by responsibility to the people of Anambra State.

He reaffirmed that his administration is committed to ensuring a secure environment where businesses can operate freely without fear or disruption. This assurance comes amid renewed efforts by the state government to fully restore commercial activities, especially on Mondays.

A key highlight of the meeting was the confirmation that markets across the state, including Onitsha Main Market, have agreed to resume full operations on Mondays. The Chairman of the Onitsha Main Market, according to reports by Channels Television, stated that traders are prepared to comply with government directives and return to normal business activities.

Governor Soludo also explained that previous disruptions to economic activities were often linked to broader sociopolitical tensions rather than failures of governance. He urged residents to return to work, attend religious services, and go about their daily activities without fear.
