During an interview from 3:06 with Arise Television, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, Director-General of BigTent Nigeria, praised former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for what he described as an unprecedented level of engagement and transparency with his supporters ahead of his planned move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Abdulkarim noted that Obi approached his political transition differently from other aspirants, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by actively involving his support base in the decision-making process. He said Obi chose not to make a unilateral announcement but first consulted widely with members of the Obidient movement.

According to him, Obi opened a public conversation before finalizing his declaration. Abdulkarim explained that the former Anambra governor held a long, open session on social media, spending several hours responding to questions from supporters and explaining his reasons for considering the ADC platform.

He stated that this gesture showed Obi’s willingness to remain accountable to the people who believe in his political vision. Abdulkarim stressed that no other presidential aspirant — past or present — has taken such deliberate steps to communicate openly with their followers before making a major political move.

In his words, “What he (Peter Obi) said is that he is going to be part of this, and he has remained part of it. And he has done something that none of these aspiring people, including Tinubu himself, have done. Before fully declaring for the ADC, he talked to the Obidient. He came on space and gave them time—four hours—to ask him questions: Why do you want to go there? How are you going to participate?”
