In a recent video from 3:04 on Facebook, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a cautionary message to political leaders and public office holders, warning them not to be deceived by promises of loyalty and support from associates who may abandon them in difficult times. The cleric said many people profess unwavering support when things are going well but disappear the moment trouble arises.
Speaking during a recent address, Ayodele lamented what he described as widespread hypocrisy and pretence among political followers and allies. He warned leaders against placing blind trust in individuals who loudly claim allegiance without genuine commitment. According to him, such supporters are often motivated by personal gain rather than loyalty.
“People are saying I will do by you, stand by you,” Ayodele said. “Oh, when you fall they will leave you. You feel the pain.”
The prophet explained that power and success naturally attract crowds, praise singers, and opportunists, but adversity reveals true character. He noted that when authority fades or challenges emerge, many who once claimed closeness quickly distance themselves, leaving leaders isolated and vulnerable.
Ayodele stressed that this pattern is common in politics, governance, and even religious circles. He said leaders who rely heavily on the applause of the moment often fail to prepare for betrayal, which makes the eventual abandonment more painful. According to him, the emotional impact of such betrayal can weaken decision-making and damage leadership effectiveness.
The cleric advised leaders to be discerning in choosing confidants and advisers, urging them to distinguish between genuine allies and those who are present only for convenience. He emphasized that true loyalty is quiet, consistent, and proven over time, not displayed through loud declarations or public shows of support.
Ayodele also warned against arrogance that can come from having many followers, saying that pride often blinds leaders to warning signs. He urged humility, wisdom, and self-awareness, noting that no position lasts forever and that preparation for difficult moments is essential.
According to the prophet, leaders should focus on building integrity, competence, and strong personal values rather than depending on people whose loyalty is tied to power. He added that inner strength and faith are crucial when external support fades.
