In a recent interview from 3:30 on Arise TV, Tony Ehilebo, Member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), discussed the ongoing internal conflicts within his party and the challenges of maintaining unity and legality. He reflected on factional disputes, court battles, and the role of leadership in shaping the party’s future.
“I want to speak directly to the FCT Minister because he is the root of this whole issue,” he said, pointing to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike as a key figure influencing the disputes that have affected the PDP’s cohesion and internal processes. Ehilebo emphasized that actions driven by past grievances have distracted the party from its core mission of people-centered governance.
Ehilebo explained that the PDP has struggled to maintain cohesion since losing elections, with many members moving to parties such as the APC and ADC. He stressed that despite these challenges, the essence of the party remains focused on serving Nigerians and holding the government accountable.
Beyond party politics, he highlighted broader national concerns, including inefficiencies in the judiciary, failing infrastructure, and policies like subsidy removal that have not significantly improved citizens’ lives. He argued that political infighting must not overshadow the urgent need for solutions to these challenges.
Regarding upcoming elections, Ehilebo encouraged Nigerians to prioritize candidates genuinely committed to public interest. He stressed that parties, including the PDP, must remain accountable and transparent, ensuring political distractions do not hinder meaningful governance and reforms. See_More…
