Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a public affairs commentator and the convener of the Reset Lagos chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during an interview with The Sun correspondent, suggested that the influence of state governors does not necessarily translate into electoral victories at the presidential level, and he also spoke on the insecurity which is affecting the image of the country.

When asked about the internal disputes within the PDP, where different factions had publicly announced the expulsion of opposing members, he characterized the situation as largely misunderstood.

He explained that such actions only appeared chaotic to those who did not grasp the proper procedures. He likened it to an individual claiming to dismiss a newspaper after being fired by it—ultimately, such claims were ineffective and lacked authority.

He further clarified that prior to the formal expulsion of certain members, the party had already taken internal disciplinary steps. According to him, key figures, including the National Secretary at the time, Anyanwu, Bature, and the legal secretary, along with others perceived to be undermining the party, had been suspended in accordance with established party procedures.

Further talking, he said, “Out of the 18 members of the national working committee, 14 expelled four, and the four now went out and said they expelled the 14. Does that make any sense? That is where the comedy is. So, the comedy is a joke on those four. No, PDP did not expel PDP.”

He explained that certain members within the PDP, whom he described as saboteurs, had been expelled from the party. He criticized their subsequent actions, noting that they had purchased media space to claim they had expelled the party itself, which he dismissed as impossible, since there is only one PDP.

He emphasized that these individuals had not participated in any legitimate convention to assume leadership positions, contrasting this with the party’s own convention, which involved over 3,000 delegates from across the country making formal decisions. He insisted that those who had been expelled should not be considered representatives of the PDP, as they were no longer members of the party. View, More,
